Federal Judge Terry Doughty slaps an injunction to block social media interference
And the radical leftist propaganda outlets are losing it. In perhaps the most sweeping move by a federal judge since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Judge Terry A. Doughty issued a temporary restraining order against all federal agencies and offices that forbids them from interacting with social media companies. The case was brought by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana Monroe Division. This is what we need more of, judges with courage to block the weaponization of Government. You may recall the Molly Ball piece, The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election, written to brag about how big tech, big business, big government and big labor all came together to “save democracy” by engaging in a coup against then President Donald J. Trump. Controlling social media was a major component of the operation.
The injunction, while temporary, is crystal clear about how government must act to comply. Judge Doughty names specific actors and specifies, “along with their secretary, directors, administrators, and employees ARE HEREBY ENJOINED AND RESTRAINED from taking the following actions as to social-media companies:
(1) meeting with social-media companies for the purpose of urging, encouraging, pressuring, or inducing in any manner the removal, deletion, suppression, or reduction of content containing protected free speech posted on social-media platforms;
(2) specifically flagging content or posts on social-media platforms and/or forwarding such to social-media companies urging, encouraging, pressuring, or inducing in any manner for removal, deletion, suppression, or reduction of content containing protected free speech;
(3) urging, encouraging, pressuring, or inducing in any manner social-media companies to change their guidelines for removing, deleting, suppressing, or reducing content containing protected free speech;
